Steel Rule Dies
HANNAN® manufactures a variety of steel rule
dies. Applications include: cutting, creasing, scoring, and trimming applications.
HANNAN® steel rule dies can be chosen from the standard die program or can be
manufactured to your custom specifications.
HANNAN® steel rule dies give you the best in
experience, knowledge, materials, and design. Our steel rule dies
are made from quality 3-point Steel Rule for durability and precision.
Why HANNAN® Dies
Because HANNAN® manufactures and builds both die cutting
machinery and steel rule dies, HANNAN® has gained in-depth
knowledge of the entire die cutting process. The HANNAN® position
in the die manufacturing industry is special. Not only does HANNAN
make steel rule dies, HANNAN® also manufactures die cutting
machines and has a long history in the die cutting industry. This
unique position gives HANNAN® a true and complete in-depth
understanding of the relationship between dies and machines. We
have utilized this knowledge to build the best dies possible.
-
The die layout must be precise to match the material
configurations. The die must accurately cut the cards, the hang
holes, and leave ample room for the product. HANNAN® steel
rule dies are
laid out by skilled craftsmen to exacting standards.
-
The die rule support must be cut at extremely close
tolerances. Too narrow will caused the rule support to spread
and crack; too wide causes the steel rule to lose side support, allowing
the steel rule to be forced sideways. This will cause cutting
problems and eventually (if not immediately) lead to broken
rule supports.
-
The Metal rule back-up must be hard and rigid enough to
support the cutting steel rule under full pressure. However, a
certain level of flexibility is required to allow for
variations in the materials or cutting process. The proper
blend of strength and flexibility is very important for
extended die life and ease of operation. This metal rule
support is an integral part of any die. The support material has proven itself
to be most effective in providing the strength to withstand
the pressures of die cutting while still providing the
controlled flexibility to allow for normal pressure variances
and load changes.
-
EJECTION RUBBER: All HANNAN® steel rule dies are completed with
ejection rubber. The ejection rubber must be laid out
precisely to
provide uniform and sufficient force to eject the cut
materials. Not
enough rubber or too soft a rubber, and the cut materials can
become stuck in the die.
To much rubber or too hard rubber, and more force is needed to
cut the material causing unnecessary increases in the cutting
pressure required resulting in additional wear on both the die and die cutting
machine.
-
HANNAN® uses only premium die board material in the
manufacture of its dies. Premium material is essential because
it is sturdy and free of voids thus providing the best support
possible for the steel rule.
REMEMBER: The disappointment of a low quality die lasts long
after the satisfaction of the low price is gone.
